Alabama Defeats Texas A&M at Kyle Field, College Station today 49-42. Johnny Manziel threw for 5 touchdowns, but the 2 interceptions led directly to 14 Alabama points.
AJ McCarron Nearly matched Johnny Manziel with four touchdown passes of his own. The the deciding factor was Vinnie Sunseri 73 yard interception return for a score.
Alabama (2-0, 1-0 Southeastern Conference) spotted the Aggies (2-1, 0-1) a 14-0 lead, reminiscent of last year when A&M lead 20-0 on Alabama's home field.
This time around, #Alabama ran off 35 straight points. The #Aggie defensive secondary could't stop the passing attack from AJ McCarron. As the game went on, the #Bama running backs began to rush for large chunks of yards at a time.
The game seemed to be out of reach with Alabama threatening to score from the goal line, when the Aggie defense caused a fumble.
Manziel was spectacular, throwing for a career-high 464 yards along with the five TDs. But the 2 picks were the deciding factor.
Alabama's offense gained 568 yards in route to the win!

"The Family"; Went with High Hopes, but Low Exceptions and left enjoying an all-around great film
When I received the premier passes to see "The Family", I was really
expecting with such great actors/actresses, that this movie would be
good; but more-so expecting it to fall flat like so many before it. I
was greatly surprised.
The Movie is based on the French author Tonino Benacquista's novel
Malavita, which is know as Badfellas in America. And "BadFellas" is an
interesting way to view this film. It does have all the wonderful
elements of the great Mobster movies, but with a touch more humor. The
family dynamic is a refreshing one that invokes what a modern mob
family would probably be going through. You found yourself "going" for
the family as a whole and not singling out one for their idiocy.
I won't waste time telling you about what you see in the trailers, and it is
clear that they are a family in witness protection and in hiding. The movie
starts off fast to quickly usher you thorough the character introductions
and development, which is a good thing, because it allows you to
experience their personality and growth throughout the film. You
watch the stupid mistakes of a teenage girl, a boy who's intuitive yet
still flawed. A mother who's trying to do the best she can to hold her
family together, and a remorseful (somewhat) father.
If you are wanting Goodfellas or Casino, this isn't it. What this IS is
DEFINITELY what "Analyze This" could have been if it was a better
movie. There is plenty of action, and the previews don't give away the
best of the movie. It is definitely a must see and Smush Approved.

9-11 and aftermath divides along racial, economic, social lines
From www.facebook.com/smushpub. Smush debate: Today marks the 12 year anniversary of the attacks of #NewYork and #WashingtonDC by hijacked aircraft, known as #911. Over 3000 lives were lost directly due to the fall of the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Pennsylvania Plane crash, and countless more due to the ensuing war. everyone seem to be affected by the tragedy, and it seemed to unify many. But there was a strong difference between how different groups felt(social, economic, ethnic). Do you think there was a different reaction, understanding, and subsequent support of the actions that followed 9/11 amongst racial, gender, and economic lines?

#Berzerk. A "tour de force" thru the past of a time.....
Today, @Eminem released his much anticipated video for "Berzerk". #Berzerk is a grand and eclectic blend of True Hip hop and an early "rap rock" mix that was often synonymous in the early days. The video features many cameos including producer Rick Rubin, and Kendrick Lamar! This video is uncut, so please know, it is #NSFW due to language, and pure awesome-ness! As an avid hip hop head, the shift into taking the art back to its true form and moving it forward is a much needed breath of fresh air from a suffering hip hop fan! Enjoy!

Weekend dining review
The #weekend is upon us. Every Friday we will be bringing forward some interesting, fun, and often different things to do for the weekend! Now locale, and weather is always an obstacle, but that may just means you have to add a road trip to the plans!
Today we review #SurLaTable. Sur La Table is a premium Cooking establishment that prides itself on being the "Art and Soul of Cooking". The first location opened in in Seattle in 1972, and over the years has spread to nearly 100+ stores!
Now if you are just looking to make an ordinary restaurant experience... this isn't it! The best part of the Sur La Table is its intrinsic nature to the Kitchen and cooking process. After visiting a location in City Centre in Houston's Memorial area, you quickly become entranced with the myriad of cooking supplies. The best example is a happier mix of a Williams-Sonoma and a Pottery Barn. Albeit with similarly priced gadgets! The cooking utensils aren't cheap. But the "coolness" factor will still have you spending $40 bucks for Chef's Torch!! Now keep in mind I have never made ANYTHING requiring a torch, but since I now have my impulse buy.... I shall!!!
Now after tearing myself from looking at other utensils that I never knew existed, I made my way to the back where the true essence of Sur La Table shines- The cooking class and experience. Now depending on your outing, they can accommodate. Want to impress a date, they have the special dinner for 2. Have the kids, they have a class that explains why the egg is so wonderful! Girls night out, try the Tuscany experience! Even Pizza making, Grilling, and seafood is their!! Let your imagination run free and experience all there is to offer!
Date Night at the Chef's Table was my party's course, which was extremely fun. The 4 course meal which we prepared and ate was extremely tasty. As always, I wanted more (hey, in Texas, we want more!)The class lasted a little over 2 hours. Coupled with an evening Movie, and it felt like we did MUCH more than "Dinner and a Movie". This was a great experience out, but it was just that, an experience. This is probably not the place you would come to weekly, but at once every 4-6 weeks is good enough to keep the appeal going! I really enjoyed it

Every shooting is NOT Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman
HOMEOWNER CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER IN NEW ORLEANS AFTER SHOOTING TEEN HE SUSPECTED OF BURGLARY- 14-year-old Marshall Coulter is in critical condition after being shot in the head by 33-year-old Merritt Landry at around 2 am Friday morning.
We hesitated to report on this horrific incident because of the sensationalism that is occurring. The human interest in this brings forth the emotional toil of protection and life. But the tactics of #RaceBaiting that seems to be coming from this tragic situation. Please media and people who follow certain media bait; don't make this into a Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman comparison. There are no similarities. The part that it seems so many miss with the "I am Trayvon" campaign is that of Racial profiling and injustice solely for the color of one group's skin while the other group receives the systemic advantages of said first group's oppressive inequalities.
In all news stories, biases occur based on slant of the writers personal history, thoughts or agenda they possess. To look at the view reported facts on the case, The homeowner has a 2 year old and a wife in his house. He came outside and witnessed a teen in his backyard. This wasn't a "ding dong ditch" like premise, and a person overreacted. We should all know that the true facts will never be fully known unless all parties involved wholeheartedly confess to the true emotion AND motivation behind their respective actions. There is already discrepancy between the account of the shooter and the witnesses and neighbors. But let's be honest, a good neighbor can and will bend the truth a bit for you. So for the stories to contradict is quite telling. The biggest discrepancy is the distance from which the shot came from and how according to NOPD Detective Nicholas Williams, the child posed NO eminent threat to Merritt Landry
The child, who should NOT have been out on the streets at age 14 at nearly 2 am, is currently still fighting for his life in a New Orleans area hospital. Oh, by the way, did I mention that this actually happened on July 26? Over a month ago this situation happened, and some of our trusted news sources haven't seen the need to focus on how as a community we can come up with ways to prevent this. Both of the parties involved played some wrong in this situation. With the proverbial 20/20 hindsight, everyone is throwing around the claims of what should have and shouldn't have been done(in hindsight). There was even hesitation by a neighbor who said "I thought about calling the cops, but the last thing I want to do is racially profile a little kid who's just biking," who spoke on condition of anonymity. What has the news done to where people do things or not do them based on the perception of being "racial/racist"? The kids had every right to ride their bikes; now as an adult I would have taken issue to a child outside at 2 am and NOT the fact that it was black kids out riding a bike. That was a teaching moment that was probably missed by our trusted news source. It should never have been about race. Race is important. It is to be appreciated by all, and when we see it solely as a reactionary measuring tool of action or discourse it becomes a problem.
Nevertheless, there was a problem here. A child who has older siblings, and a mother doing all she can was able to somehow be outside in the early Friday hours. There was comments made by the victim's own brother, David Coulter, stating he had been on medication for attention deficit hyperactive disorder and was awaiting trial for "stealing stuff,". He later added "He would steal -- he was a professional thief,"
This extremely disheartening. How can a child at age 14 be a professional thief? Who see's this action and doesn't firmly stress that a situation where you life can end is greatly magnified by being out at 2 am. Of course, their maybe was more intervention and this was just a precocious child who didn't heed warning or maybe he was just left to run free. Whichever it is, he didn't deserve to be shot. We can only hope that this situation has a positive end and he recovers and goes out into the world a changed man. ALL are due their redemption story.
We see from this situation that we have a long way to go in many areas of our social interactions, We want to box and "one size fits all" every situation. To categorize is quite the American past time. But a teaching moment presented itself. From mental health (ADHD), racial profiling, to protecting ones home, and more. Let's look at the nuances of our situations and truly work to get better. Once we look deeper than we will see that these answers to these problems have already been found, we just need to share what we found.
My father once told me- "Both of you don't need a brain, just as long as the one with it, comes home and shares it with the other"

Pro & Anti Syria
The past few days have been and people from all sides have been weighing in on their thoughts of the Crisis in Syria. The intervention of America, like all things, has benefits and drawbacks. As a Superpower, there is a form of decorum and obligation to make sure that we use that power for the betterment of all. We are to love our fellow man, and if we say we do, then how can we sit idly by and allowed innocent men, women, and children be gassed. These are human beings that we as the most gifted country should want to have those rights bestowed on everyone.
Then again, we still have economic instability and plenty situations at home that haven't been tended to. How do we manage to find the funds and the ever elusive congress unification on the commitment to a better life elsewhere? If this is somehow discovered, the question looms as to how come we can 't agree on the importance of a great health system and reinvestment of our own communities so we can maintain our own standard of living Stateside. Now, no one is comparing the perceived ills of American society to anything that the Syrians are going through. Anyone who believes that we compare in ANY way to being killed by your own Government is severely lacking;but we could be more receptive to the conversation of intervention if we weren't working just to afford $4 gas and the bare grocery necessities.
Whether you are Pro or Anti Syrian intervention, something needs to be done. Just as much as something needs to be done to fix Detroit, Chicago, and other great american cities. What I think all Americans can agree on is that we would like to see more of is a solutions oriented plan than more of the political rhetoric.
